Lima: Plaza de Armas/ Changing of the Guards/ Catacombs/ Successful Bus Endeavors

Today we ventured up to Central de Lima. And yes, we successfully got on the correct bus, paid the appropriate amount AND did the same thing getting back to the hostel.

There were a lot of old world looking buildings. Highlights were the changing of the guards in the Plaza de Armas and the tour of the catacombs at the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco. The changing of the guards was pretty cool with horses, a marching band and their honor guard doing trick drill and ceremony, but admittedly it was too long. It was over an hour for the whole thing.

The second major highlight was thecatacomb tour at San Francisco. The tour was actually in English, which was cool because that meant that we didn't need a Spanish/English dictionary to figure out who's bones we were looking at. Let me tell you that there were quite a few bones. Quite a few. This was definately worth the $1.75 each it cost to get in. There is a lot of layers of history there and their library looks like someplace Harry Potter would study.

Another major development: Peru does chicken right. It is confirmed. We went to this Peruvian chicken joint and yet again, the chicken was off the chain. Gato still makes the best chicken.
