Happy Tokyo Day!, Honshu

We had about 3 hours on the train to Tokyo and used it to get caught up in our travel hobbies. Mike finished his book, Way of the Shadows, and since then has really gotten into crossword puzzles. I am trying to finish the forth book in the "Earth Children" series called "The Plains of Passage" and I've been cross-stitching a kookabura that I got in Australia. It's not an amazing new travel thing, but we have fun!

In Tokyo, we are staying at the New Sanno Hotel, which is a Navy 5 Star hotel in downtown Tokyo. $43 a night! Hostels are more expensive. Yeah! This is just about the nicest place we are going to stay for the rest of the trip! (Although, it's nothing like the Etu Moana, Tom and Wendy! =o) )

On a hunt for some dinner, we bumped into this place called "No Man's Land." We had no idea what it was until we walked in. Happily, it was even free! It is a multi-media art gallery full of some crazy cool Japanese/French art. It was amazing to see how people made art. Artists used music, tv's, video, junk, vibrant colors, mannicans, even a car! It is almost impossible to describe, but it was unlike any other art exhibit I have ever been. Our favorite artist was Ryota Unno. He painted works that kinda looked like a "Where's Waldo" book. ( http://www.tokyoartbeat.com/tablog/entries.en/2009/12/entering-no-mans-land.html ) It was so cool just bumping into such a unique place. We love Tokyo!
