America Day! (Clarksville to Cali)

Today was our first day to the mini trip we are taking to across the US to get back to Moreno Valley, CA. We started our day (after sleeping on the floor with towels as blankets) on the road going west. Our first stop was to see the tallest statue of none-other-than SUPERMAN in the great town of Metropolis, IL> Red, blue and gold everywhere! A few pictures of Muscle Man Mike and Astonishing Amy and we were back on the road. I was fighting one of the worst headaches I ever had- it hurt to speak, but Mike didn't mind! He he!

After some home cookin' at Cracker Barrel, we passed the Arch of St. Louis and made our way to Kansas City. Mike suggested that we see about going to a Kansas City Royals game. No crap, it was right off the highway and we got there about an hour before it started! Curiously, there was a Black hawk and a HUMMWV in the parking lot. When we got in, we found out that it was Uniformed Services Appreciation Day! So, the tickets were half price, and they had a really nice ceremony/tribute to the Services before the game. With a hot dog and a beer in hand, we got to see 2 home runs by the Royals! It was such a pretty stadium with the fountains in the outfield. We had to leave in the 5th Inning so we could get to our final destination for day 1, Ft. Riley Distinguished Visitor's Quarters (thank you, Dad!).
