Amazon to Lima: Canoeing/ Headed back to Iquitos/ Iquitos Market/ Arrival at Hostel in Lima

Canoeing was, well, canoeing, and the garden we went to revealed more secrets of the jungle. We packed up everything, said goodbye to the friends that we made, and enjoyed an uneventful and windy ride back to Iquitos.

We had less than an hour before the bus picked us up to go to the airport. Edson, our guide, then took us on some little rickshaw taxis to the market for a quick look. We saw a lot of the plants, animals and spices that we had seen in the raw form in the jungle. It was interesting, but admittedly a bit sad to see just the beginning of the products leaving such a beautiful place as we had just been. The hightlight of the market was when Mike, Dad and Lew all downed grilled GRUBS in the market! They insisted that it didn't taste that bad, but the goo at the very beginning of the bite was, let's say, different!

Our hostel in Lima, Miraflores House, is pretty great. Lew and Dad needed to leave out early the next morning to catch their plane to Cusco. They only had 2 days to see Cusco and Machu Picchu. Francis, the owner, immediately went about setting up everything for them in Cusco so they would see everything and not waste time before they had to get back to the States. I felt good knowing that my bro and pop were in good hands for the whirlwind part of their trip.
