Arrival to Sapporo and Sapporo Beer Factory, Hokkaido

We arrived into the snow-covered northern island later in the day, and found our way with our huge backpacks to the Marks Inn Hostel by way of train, subway, and slippery sidewalks. The snow is literally 2 feet high here. We love it!

Our hotel room was awesome! It was small, but the bed was all white, snowy views, flat screen TV, a tea set, fun toilet, and there were slippers and robes! We couldn't just stay in the room all day and enjoy the luxurious surprise; we had to see stuff!

Off to the Sapporo Beer Factory we went! The museum had diorama of the happiest beer-making process I have ever seen. Think the Land of Oz, complete with the yellow brick road only with hops. Happy... happy! We tasted their beers... I liked the unfiltered and Mike liked the classic. ( http://www.sapporobeer.jp/english/guide/sapporo/ ) We then went to the Beer Garden for the all you can eat, all you can drink special. Oh so much fun! It had a Bavarian-esque feel to it with a Japanese twist. And the Japanese twist was excellent service with glasses that were always full! There was a hot place on the table that we used to cook slices of uncooked lamb, onions and cabbage. It was delicious!

The walk back was something magical. Christmas lights were everywhere. The snow was falling beautifully. Everything was white. The city seemed to sparkle in the night sky. And then there were two goofy Americans giggling our way through every bit of it. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
