Just arrived to Japan!

After saying "see you later" to Ian and Margaret, we boarded the plane in Sydney to Narita Airport, Japan. It was not a bad flight, but I was especially annoyed that the plane charged for all drinks and food... on a 9 hour international flight. I'm talking that I couldn't get apple juice unless I wanted to fork over some dough. We had no idea before getting on the plane, and therefore didn't bring enough food for the time period. We were then at the mercy of the overpriced ok plane food. There are certainly worse things in life, I know, but I was HIGHLY annoyed. There, it is off my chest. I'm better now.

So now, we are staying at the Narita Aiport International Hostel, and it is so interesting! This is our first entry to the set up of Japan homes. We stayed on futon mattresses that were on reed flooring (definately take those shoes off). The bathrooms have douve' contraptions over the toilet, and there is even a button you can push to make waterfall sounds for those who are more "shy." Bathrooms have never been so much fun! The showers are interesting too. To shower, you stand OUTSIDE the tub (there is a drain on the floor). Then you may sit in the tub to soak. Ok, so I didn't read that was how you were supposed to do it, even in homes, until after it was too late. Next time, I guess!

Mike and I have our noses in our guidebooks, especially to pick up some important words and to learn the customs. We haven't even done anything yet, and Japan is fun! Imagine when we start doing stuff!
