Olympic Park/ Night Markets

We enjoyed looking at the architecture of the Bird’s Nest and the Cube in the Olympic Park, but it kinda felt like going to any other stadium when no one is playing. We were kinda asking ourselves why we were there. They did have a children’s winter festival going on, but nothing to crazy exciting. There was a mother who forced her kid to take a picture with us. The kid first stood in front of us, then right behind us, until we motioned that we knew what was going on and would just pose for the picture already. I told you, we’re famous!

We then headed to the Night Markets, which is a section of street where tons of vendors are outside cooking up just about anything that you can imagine on a stick. After perusing through the sea star, snake, octopus, grub, and lots of other “tasty treats,” Mike decided to take a try at the sea horse. He said it tasted a bit like a fishy crunchy chip. Not too bad, and now that has officially gone down as the weirdest thing he has ever eaten (even weirder than the grubs that Mike, Dad and Lew ate in Iquitos, Peru). So check the box… eat weird food in China, check.
