After a lazy start, we went through Red Canyon ( http://www.zionnational-park.com/red-canyon-utah.htm ) to Bryce Canyon National Park ( http://www.nps.gov/brca/index.htm ). Man, it was nice to have an Annual National Park Pass! After a quick stop at the Visitor's Center, we headed into the Park. Last time I was there, Mom, Dad, Lew and I only had a few very cold and windy moments to snap a few pictures before needing to pick up Mike at the Salt Lake airport in 2006/2007. This time we got to get inside and among the hoodoos along the Queen's Garden, Rim and Navajo Trails. It was basically just us and every Frenchman in the world. August is France's "travel month" and apparantly, they all come to America's national parks! The sights were humbling, stark and beautiful. And the squirrels and chipmunks were fat, friendly, and unafraid.
Our next stop was to the icing on the cake to this trip-- Zion National Park (http://www.nps.gov/zion/index.htm ). Along the way, we met this couple coming from Zion. When we asked about it, the man did not mince his words. "It was the most amazing place I have ever been." Period. Now that is a place you need to go. We were greeted to the park by a herd of bison. One of them charged me when I got close to the fence. I am not to proud to say that I ran away like a little girl when the beast started toward me!
