Fishing/ Anaconda/ Hackey Sack/ Volleyball at Chino

Started out the day with a birding boat trip. Really, in the Amazon, there was not stop to birding. It seemed like around ever turn there was an even more beautiful, strange, amazing, cute bird! This time, we went to the same place we had before but we got more clarification because here we had an older guide that knew his birds like none other.

After breakfast, have I told you that the food here was excellent?, we went out fishing and ended up catching an ANACONDA! As soon as Edson, our guide found a 4 foot anaconda sitting in a nearby branch, we all forgot about our fishing poles! Mike plucked it from the trees. It tried to bite Mike, but Sam (the anaconda) was no match! It wrapped around Mike's arm and Mike's hand turned purple (not really). When he passed it to Lew IV, Sam bit Lew... Dad (Mr. Lew) tried to help and it bit him too! We all got to eventually hold Sam and he even calmed down quite a bit after the initial shock. I put him back in the water and he swam away... SO FAST! Wow, what an experience!

In the afternoon, we were supposed to be visiting a shamen, but she wasn't there, so we did some bird watching then Mike, Lew, Dad, Edson and I played hackey sack. We got a "hac" a few times, but never quite a "double hac." Though Edson hadn't played before, he was really good- I guess it was all that soccer practice. Then we played volleyball with some locals and though it was close, I admit it, we lost. Chino Village, our arch nemesis!

  1. You held an anaconda? Held it? WANTED to hold it? You guys are far more brazen then me. Remember the spider incident in the canoe....
